Immersion Russian Language Camp now runs as a day camp in Minnesota, offering language practice and rich culture.
Learn Russian and experience the magic of a traditional overnight summer camp with language, culture, and fun daily.
Grow as a leader, bring your ideas to life, and make a real impact in a dynamic and inspiring camp environment.
We are Irina Safonov, Tamara von Schmidt-Pauli, and Daria Dzhalalova — the heart and soul behind “Игра. Unplugged.” Since 2015, we’ve been leading this incredible camp with a team of passionate Russian language educators and enthusiastic parents.
It all started in 2015 with a family-style summer day camp, where we learned Russian through playing games, visiting museums, pools, and playgrounds, cooking traditional Russian food together, organizing debates, staging theater productions, and playing trivia — all in Russian!
With each passing year, we saw the same smiling faces return while new ones joined us, and our Russian family continued expanding. Kids began asking their Russian friends for sleepovers, and one of them suggested a sleep-away camp to enjoy friendships and adventures together—all fully immersed in the Russian language.
From this humble request, our overnight Russian Immersion Camp “Игра.Unplugged” was born.
Creating an immersive Russian-language environment where kids of all backgrounds can dive into the magic of summer camp through exciting themes and fun activities, creating lifelong memories while practicing Russian language.
Everyone ages 5+. Whether you’re fluent in Russian, know just a few words, or none at all—our camp is for YOU. No prior experience is needed, just a sense of adventure!
Themed camp! Immerse yourself in sessions like “Дикий Робот” (The Wild Robot), “Винни Пух” (Russian Winnie the Pooh), Гарри Поттер (Harry Potter), Волшебник Изумрудного города (The Wizard of Oz), Буратино (Russian Pinocchio), complete with games, activities, and shows that bring the themes to life. Each session is unique and includes a thrilling week-long strategy game, where teams compete in challenges, solve clues, and collaborate to win, making the theme a truly unforgettable experience for everyone.
Swim, canoe, ride ponies, climb walls, tackle obstacle courses, try archery and bbguns, go on a black hole run or drive carts.
Our menu features a mix of kid-approved favorites and traditional dishes like blinchiki, pelmeni, and soups. Every meal is served with fresh fruit and vegetables. In addition to breakfast, lunch, and dinner, we also provide poldnik (afternoon snack) and second dinner.

My kid is entering leaders program and is enjoying making friends and having Russian language experiences. He loves leaning how to cook some of Russian desserts, signing songs. Highly recommend the camp and experience. Counselors are amazing and truly enjoy their work with children.Posted on Anna OTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We are incredibly fortunate to have Tamara, Irina, Dasha, and so many others who put together this fantastic program! I truly cannot thank them enough. This is by far the best summer camp we've ever attended. My kids have been coming for 7 or 8 years now, and they look forward to it every single year. The camp offers a huge variety of activities throughout the day, delicious homemade traditional food, and a wonderful opportunity to build Russian language skills. The girls have made so many friends and created memories that will last a lifetime. I honestly wish I had something like this in my own childhood. It's no surprise that families travel from other states—and even other countries!Posted on OsiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve been coming here since I was 15, and I’ve been returning every year since. The atmosphere is amazing and the people are kind. The property is beautiful, situated right on the St. Croix River with lush woodland all around.Posted on Mark BelenkiyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My grandkids took part in the RussianCampMN program for several years. When they got back each time, they could not stop talking how awesome it was! First, they enjoyed and appreciated the delicious and varied food and snacks - home-cooked food at its best! Even picky eaters had nothing to complain about. They kept talking about hand-made pierogi, chebureki, apple pie, in addition to standard fare like soups, salads and burgers. I saw lots of pictures of my grandkids and other kids running, swimming, exercising, riding ponies, and enjoying themselves a lot. They came back with a better command of Russian after each shift. As they got older, they got to help out with younger kids at the camp, which I think is very beneficial for them. I am very grateful to the camp organizers for the fun and growth opportunities they have to my family. I only wish I could be a kid to go to the camp!Posted on Kate MinachkinaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The best place for my daughter to spend her time during the summer break 🤩👌🏻. Such a great working team there, they post pictures, they keep them busy, they make every day for them memorable. Love this camp!!!Posted on M ZagrebelnyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My son will be attending the camp for the 5th time this summer. He loves the non-stop activities including swimming every day, tasty and healthy meals prepared by master chefs on-site, disco party, collecting prizes, and making friends. Like the name of the camp suggests, kids spend time away from gadgets and devices which - to some parents - is a very important differentiator. Russian immersion is a nice perk. Counselors do a great job sharing (via private FB group) daily pictures of their groups. Kiwanis seems like a perfect location with complete set of facilities (they recently got new showers/bathrooms building), beautiful natural surroundings, all within convenient driving distance from the Twin Cities. Russian Camp MN really gives a traditional summer experience that will be remembered forever.Posted on Lana MakeyvaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Posted on Yuliya NazarovaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great way to expose your kids to camp setting and bonus - Russian culture! Food is great, kids make friends from all over, and activities itinerary is always awesome (think arts and crafts, active games, mini cooking lessons, organized dances, singing campfire songs). The camp counselors are really engaged! My niece and nephew can't wait to go back every year!
